Is Mainstream Media Dying?

Is Mainstream Media Dying?

Is mainstream media dying? When I was young teenager I would always ask myself why I was beginning to get bored with all the information coming from the television. I never really felt any interest in television programming and series found on programs while everyone else was glued to these. I didn’t know if this … Continue reading

How Hormesis Is Nature’s Guide To Getting Uncomfortable

How Hormesis Is Nature’s Guide To Getting Uncomfortable

I’ve mentioned before that we must get uncomfortable in or to progress. I find we can learn this through nature, though Hormesis. Hormesis is when there is a struggle in the body, and the body comes up with adaptations for self-preservation. Here is a more thorough explanation: Hormesis (from Greek hórmēsis “rapid motion, eagerness,” from ancient Greek hormáein “to set … Continue reading

New Track: Encephalon Limb From Limb. Electro Industrial Compilation

Encephalon has released a new track for Electronic Saviors IV: Retaliation. It’s a compilation record of electronic and industrial music featuring various artists. Give it up for Ottawa’s Music! https://metropolisrecords.bandcamp.com/album/electronic-saviors-iv-retaliation The track opens with a seemingly basic yet infectious bass line. There’s a blend between synthetic and acoustic drum sounds. As the bassline progresses … Continue reading

Encephalon – Psychogenesis (2015)
Psychogenesis Zero I like albums that take me on an adventure of sorts, to another world. These aren’t just singles, this is definitely a cohesive album. This record does it for me. It serves it in various styles or genres but still with a core of electro-industrial and in ways that are compelling and unique unto itself.

Influences on each track are diverse – which is what separates it all for me, through the multitude of influence you have something original and definitively Encephalon.

We descend spiraling into a new setting, dark, cinematic, smashing idiosyncratically, hammering new time signatures on an acoustic drum set.

There are thunderous sawtooth synths that pulsate and morph along to the rhythm. There’s a militant quality to it. A futuristic landscape. Continue reading

Inflammation Is The Culprit Of Most Diseases

Inflammation Is The Culprit Of Most Diseases

Inflammation is the culprit. Recent studies have shown that one of the biggest mechanisms, culprits and factors of disease and general bad health is due to inflammation. The easy way of looking at inflammation, is seeing it as something that swells within your body. Your body is responding to activity in the body to protect itself, but … Continue reading

On Media And Television: Cultural Programming

On Media And Television: Cultural Programming

Television. It’s got the attention of millions as does the great media companies of the internet. Television provide you with a seemingly great amount of choice – hundreds of channels. I feel they are depicting similar ideals and ideas etc. So is it really that much choice? How come my view is never on there? As I get older I … Continue reading

Fasting For The Brain And Bulge

In the news, you constantly hear about how people are always increasing their waistlines. You see ads about new diet plans, fat-loss tabs that only jack up your heart rate while you do nothing, commercials for new exercise equipment that people will buy, use once and play the game of who can collect the most dust. … Continue reading

Spiritual Worlds: Lesage and Max Hattler

Augustin Lesage. Symbolic Composition of the Spiritual World I don’t know what is about Lesage that “speaks to me”. But it simply does. It is said that he heard voices in his 30’s telling him that he will become a painter. And that they influenced him in choosing the colours, the patterns, forms of his … Continue reading

Getting Into A Flow State

I know when I’m in a flow state, through experience I get that.  I can usually tell when I have just hit it. This goes for so many different moments in life, not only making music. Yet there is a paradox of the flow state. You lose track of time. When you are done, you … Continue reading
